Great club meeting today and great ideas shared! The club has decided to do mini turkey shoots on Folsom during weekday evenings. We will rotate through different days of the week. Plan is to have one every 2 weeks until further notice.

Here's details on our first mini-shoot:

When: Wed May 19 at 5:00pm
Where: Folsom Lake, Granite Bay launch
Entry fee: none (optional big fish pot)
Check-in: May 17 update: on the water at the Granite Bay 5mph buoys. This makes it easier for those who were out on the lake earlier in the day pre-fishing.
Live well check: If your boat is already on the water at check-in time we may do a livewell check
Weigh-in: 8:00pm on the water at south end of Peninsula (sunset is 8:15, dark is 8:45)
Awards: Bragging rights only, results posted on website, no plaques
If you are a little late: You can launch after 5pm if you call the TD's cell # when you hit the water
Guests: Guests are free to fish with us but only members get their results posted.

New members: you can save time at check-in if you bring a signed club Liability Release form with you (only need to do this once). You can print it out from the website under the Fishing Club menu.

QUESTION: what should the contest format be? Biggest single fish? Biggest bag? Weight closest to a specific weight? Make the call by posting what you want to see.

Why not do biggest bag but maybe make it a 3 fish bag since you are working with 3 hours of fishing time. Maybe a big fish pot option.

Okay Brian, it will be a 3-fish bag. Biggest total weight wins.

One more thing: I decided to change the check-in to on-the-water at the 5mph buoys at the Granite Bay launch. This will make it easier for anyone who wants to launch earlier in the day and do some pre-fishing. Be prepared for the TD to board your boat and inspect your livewell if you didn't just launch, okay? pirat

I'm sending an email notice out shortly.

Weather was overcast/cloudy all day with about 1/2 hour of warm rain and on and off breezes to 8mph. All in all a great day to fish on our home lake. Oh, and no lake lice Very Happy.

Format: 3 fish limit, biggest bag wins

Dave Roper and Lenny Robison: 7.58lb FIRST PLACE
Chris Bajorek and Damon Witt: 8.35lb - 1.0lb pro penalty = 7.35lb
Loyd Baumann and his dad: 5.74lb
Ryan Stoddard and Matt Farrand: DNW
Mike Bugliarello and John Harris: DNW
Craig Rogers: DNW

I also heard a few other boats came out late but they did not call me to check in and they didn't stay for the weigh-in. Even though we didn't weigh a big fish, the biggest was caught by Dave Roper--very nice fish estimated between 3 and 4 lbs. Great job Dave!

I can't speak for others but Damon and I headed for the dam and caught a limit pretty quickly on Senkos and dartheads. We had both sides of the dam literally to ourselves all evening. Between the two of us we got around 15 fish but we just could not break the 3 lb barrier. No topwater fish although we both got some swirls. Still, it was a blast.

Hey, you other teams that fished! Please post here and tell us how you got your fish and what conditions you found.

Next mini-shoot on Tuesday June 1 at Folsom. See ya there.
